Stripey Socks

purplesocks.jpg Here they are! The purple striped socks worn by their new owner. Yarn is Regia Cotton Surf. Pattern is two at a time toe up socks with a 2×2 rib on the instep and the legs.

I think I said before that I won’t use that yarn again. It’s just too cottony even though it’s supposedly mostly wool. I just really dislike the feel of cotton when I’m knitting – but when I sew I want everything to be cotton. Go figure. Not that the final product was yucky to the touch or anything, They’re actually quite pleasant on the foot. (I had to try and cram my foot into them and see if they were just an ooch small for me, because I needed them to be about a size 6 foot… )

Anyway, I’m really pleased with how they came out. And I think the recipient likes them, too, judging from her grin and exclamations of joy. But then, that’s my Becky… Enjoy dear friend.

Oh, a successful sock venture! These look terrific. It’s nice to hear about sock-knitting that doesn’t involve tears or gnashing of teeth.

I got here by way of a link from the TAW blog… In one of your older posts, you’d asked how people got to your blog and why they stayed.

I didn’t even notice the graphic at the top of the blog – one thing that DID make points is that I could actually see the title of your first blog post. It makes me crazy when I have to scroll past a graphic to see if there’s anything posted. #2 thing that makes me crazy? MUSIC. It’s an automatic click-to-close for me.

The fact that the first post of yours that I saw showed a pair of socks that I assume was hand-knit probably influenced whether I’d stick around for a minute or two. Actually, if I’ve made it to the first post, it’s likely I’ll look around a bit, at least on the first page.

Of course, if the first post is wRItN n-a RIDicULUZ way, I’m outta there before even focusing on a single word. I *DID* High School once. Didn’t like it then, either.

The look of your blog does not interfere with it’s readability (which is a huge success). It doesn’t sparkle or tag like the inside of a high-schooler’s locker, and you seem to be able to put three words together that make sense.

I don’t know if I have high standards or low, but whatever you’ve done here works for me. :-)

Maybe one day I will be brave enough to knit socks. Those are really cute!

mm I love fuzzy socks. I think purple stripes is the only color I don’t have!

They look so cozy and warm. I would love to have a go at knitting socks when I can find the time.
